12 noon-1pm @ percussion studio: Percussion master class/Graduate music society introductions. Mr. Nakatani will introduce himself, perform a brief solo set highlighting his various extended techniques, and allow for a question and answer session. Open to all students.1-2pm: Drum set master class, room TBA. Mr. Nakatani will conduct a master class on his unique approach to the drum set. All percussion students are encouraged to attend, priority will be given to graduate students for individual coaching and feedback.3-4pm: Performance for Professor Bart Woodstrup's sound art class, in the visual arts building. Tatsuya will perform for the class and discuss his approach to sound art, sound design, and improvisation as it relates to multi- or intermedia art.Friday:
1-2pm: room 202 (technology classroom): Lecture. Mr. Nakatani will talk about the business side of being an independent artist, with topics including managing your career, booking and promotion, running your own record label; as well as his approach to sound and silence, and cultural identity.2-4pm, room 241 (ensemble room): Free Improvisation workshop/master class. All students are encouraged to attend, priority given to graduate students. This workshop will discuss matters related to group improvising. Students will have the opportunity to play with Mr. Nakatani and receive feedback.6:30-7:30, room 173 - solo concert. Mr. Nakatani has an electrifying solo set that he will perform for the student body.
